[CHICKENS-101] Re: How do specks get into the eggs?

How do you know it was a pepper flake? How could you tell?

I don't have any idea how it could get in the egg. It doesn't seem possible to me. But I admit I don't know everything about egg production. I suppose there could be a way for something to get from the gut to the ovary or ova duct before the shell was formed. I doubt it though.

We give our girls table scraps from our fav Chinese restaurant - and in the scraps are pepper flakes. Yesterday in one of the eggs was a part of a pepper flake --really -- no it wasn't blood -- it was a pepper flake. I dug it out of the egg to make sure.
