Please remember that any dog that has been treated for heart worm will need to be on medications for the rest of his life. Not just for the mosquito season. I learned the hard way, and lost my doberman to it after he had already been treated, the vet failed to inform me that he would always need the meds. I currently have a American Bulldog that we rescued, treated for heart worm, and now takes a pill every month ($9.50 in MI) to make sure he will not be re-infested. Good luck with your new pal!
