Re: [CHICKENS-101] Purina recall

Sometimes I mix my own, but it is cheaper to have the Amish up north make my feed using my recipe. When I can't get up north, (summer I can't buy 2 tons and store it like I can in the winter), I buy Armada or Kent, and Grand River homemade chick feed and mix them. I have a grinder and have used it to grind grain and calf manna. When you grind grain it molds easier and faster.
I've only been active a month where I am starting to actually do the work instead of hiring someone to do it. There is so much to do after being sick for 3 years that it is hard to stay focused on one job at time. I am going to wait until cold weather to make my own feed.

What do you feed?  Do you mix all your own ingredients?
I have been a little wary of Purina since they bought Pedigree dog food and dummied it down.

Except that broodys, chickens in pens with much needed shade shelters, and chickens who hate outside wouldn't get enough D. It's why I do not use putrina anything. I also so not trust anyone one feed to supply my chickens nutrients since the companies put the lowest of everything they can get away with.
I have silkies who refuse to go outside and hate the outdoors with a passion. They never go outside and when I put them out, come right back in. If locked outside, sit and pout. Silly chickens.
