My white rock rooster from Eric in NM was well handled as a chicks and as he grew up. He is still very gentle and minds commands. I like that I can tell him to round up his girls and put them to bed. He rounds them all up and makes them go into their pen.
Must depend on each rooster and breed. I agree with you, I'd wait and see.

Subject: RE: [CHICKENS-101] Tell me about Roosters
My advice is to "wait and see". I have had lots of roosters and while my theory that the ones handled a lot and coddled are usually the nastiest, it doesn't ring true for ALL. We have several Americauna mixes…….beautiful boys. The ones handled the most are a little cocky and we have to take the offense with them when they do their "sideways shuffle" at us. The ones we didn't handle much or coddle in any way are leary of us and keep their distance. That is the way I like it!
So, I would wait and see. He may be just fine.
