Yay Laurie!!! I am so happy you have silkies now too!!! Polish have regular feathers and hat of feathers on top of their heads like an umbrella of messy feathers, yellow skin, and 4 toes. Silkies are covered in down, have feathered feet, black/blue skin and beaks.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Black Silkies
Well Everyone,
You know how Cathryn talks about her silkies. I have never had one -- but now I have 2 black ones!! Went to the feed store for finch food and came home with 2 black silkies!!
They appear to be a month old. So cute. They cried all the way home. I put them with my other month old pullets. New Hampshire Red and Barred Rock.
OK, this does it for me.
40 chickens are enough. The eggs are nice, but I really love the inner action with the chickens and how they respond.
Please tell me the difference between Polish and Silkies.
Thanks
Laurie - who has a smile from ear to ear 'cause she now has Silkies
