Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: sick chicken again

Wendy, Duramycin has to be changed every day. I would get the tylan 200, 10cc's per gallon, treat all. Will last up to 3 days in a water dish if not in the sun/bright light, take care of that with a brown shopping bag or something to cover the water. After the wedding give her/all both. You know if one has it they all do. First time a big stresser comes along whomp they'll all be sick. Nip it now and dr all if you can. Or cage her with a water dish.

Thank you for that info. the guy at the chicken shop told me 3-5 days of tylan 50 and just gave me a syringe with that much in it. grrr. Will try to get some at the store today. This is such bad timing as my daughter is getting married Saturday and we are all running around like crazy. Can I get the duramycin at a feed store also and can I put both at the same time in the drinking water? There is no way I am going to be able to give her shots for a while so it would have to be in the water. Funny thing is she is a little more perky again today. Also, I hate to coop her up because I do see her foraging where as she doesn't seem interested in her store bought food. Which is more healthy for her? Forage, exercise and being with the two other girls who have been completely healthy -I really do not think this is an infectious disease as it started so long ago and her coop-mates are in excellent health, or penning her up hoping she will get hungry enough to eat her store bought crumbles and stressing her out being away from her friends and normal environment?

> Hi Wendy, tylan for 5 days is not enough. Could you give her tylan and duramycin orally for 14 days?  You can give her the dose orally rather than shots- tylan destroys flesh and is very painful. Or giver her the tylan shots for 14 days and the duramycin orally in her water. Here is what I would do: Spray/powder Hazel for lice and mites and leave her outide for 20 minutes after spraying/powdering, put shredded paper in a large box, use a knife to make slits for coop cups that will hang in the slits, grab your oven rack to put over the top of the box, and put it all in your laundry room with Hazel in it. You can now control her living connditions and how much she eats and drinks. You bought tylan 50 so I'd give her the shots for 14 days. I'd put duramycin in her water for 14 days. (Two rounded tblsp for a gallon - I'd put a level teaspoon per pint of water, or half a tsp per cup. Duramycin has to be made fresh every 24 hours and kept out of the sun.) You
