I agree with Cathryn. This post is too harsh and judgmental. These were deeply loved pets and Kristen was working hard to do the right thing by her hens.
For breeders who cull their animals, that's what they do. And yes, killing a bunny for being the wrong color seems excessive, but it is done. I couldn't be a breeder myself but I respect those who are. What I don't like is when someone gets a bunny, the bunny gets attacked by the family dog, then with no changes to the situation they get another bunny. That is cruel to subject a bunny to injury and predation like that. Culling is not cruel.
Chill.

Research this method before using it . There is info out there. Using dry ice is not recommended for animals other than mice and rats. You can use co2 cartridges but there are steps to take. IMO it is inhumane . It seems a lot of rabbit breeders use this method to do away with bunnies and rabbits that won't show well. Kill a baby rabbit for the wrong color! Insane. And they do suffer if not done properly. Perhaps your chickens are just suffocating in that bin. I'm sorry-but this just doesn't seem right. Maybe giving your sick bird some comfort care until she passes on? An injured or suffering animal should be taken to a vet to be put down if no one is able to dispatch it quickly.
