I suspect our failure to kill our 3 hens w/ dry ice tonight is failing because it's too cold outside and the ice needs to have warm water added to it? I'm so mad at myself for trying this method. My 3 girls have been alive but in a coma for almost 2.5 hrs (well, maybe they're dead now... we can't keep checking that tub w/ the cover on and plastic around). I guess I really needed to do yet more research. I just found other websites that mention adding water to the dry ice. We will try that now if they are still breathing. And then shoot them if need be... which is the death I've been trying to avoid this whole time. I thought this would be easy. I'm full of regret now and feeling like the worst chicken owner in the world. My poor girls... Thank goodness I chose not to cull our roo or favorite hen this way tonight.
