I avoid all chicken feed and animal feed made in China or containing GMO's. But it's getting harder and harder to figure out which of our OWN food comes from these sources. I recently saw a clip where Japanese farmers were being told by their government to continue planting vegetables in known radioactive soil. The food wasn't being used in Japan...most of it was being shipped over here! The farmers were protesting growing poisoned food and harming people. But nothing ever came of it that I know of. You just have to be really careful and ask questions. Recently, I noticed that chicken I got at Albertsons now says "Product of US". It USED to say "Product of USA" When I ask the meat server behind the counter about this, they hadn't a clue. "Made in US" could mean..."Made in United Singapore" for all I know.

I believe that a lot of people don't really know what this means. I know I didn't. I remember thinking what was the big deal.

I think it will matter a lot down the road.

More and more I think the food we buy looks good, but it isn't quite right. It's tough or tasteless. Or strange somehow. I think they want to be able to ship it across the country and have it look like something when it gets to us. Problem is that it doesn't taste the way it should.

I feed produce to my chickens as well.

When I first read your post, I read it to mean the exact opposite of what you were trying to say.

I remember being a kid and thinking that genetically engineered food was going to be good. Now I think it is just a way to make it easier for distributors to get their food to us. Fresh food doesn't turn brown.
