I do understand. I've been buying heritage seeds for over thirty years. Geez I sound old!!
I also signed the petition. I can't see my original response as I'm on my phone, but I think I was trying to say that the positive things I thought as a kid would occur with genetic engineering have simply turned into food that can be shipped farther away. I was expressing my disappointment.

Cassie, that's exactly what the GMO corporations *want* you to think.
Real food *does* at some point turn brown--once it turns brown, you know it's not fresh. GMOs are not, as our corporate-favoring government would insist, the same as normal food. Remember--the government doesn't test these Frankenfoods--it simply lets the big corporations like Monsanto "test" them (discarding, ignoring, and hiding any adverse results) and declare them "safe." Read the report of the independent Seralini study of GMO corn and glyphosate (Roundup), run over 2 years, and tell me GMOs are safe. (Also interesting, the way Monsanto has attacked Seralini over the past couple of years...)
