Oh, I definitely understand their reluctance! But since my coop is up on wheels, they could jump from either their ramp, or my step, right under the coop--they use (or used to!) the space underneath whenever the weather is bad, or if they wanted shade. Not anymore. And while the last winter's flock (which included 3 of those I now have) would make a headlong run for the horse barn and hayloft to spend the day, even through several inches, this winter they won't even come out to the cleared area for MEALWORMS! I even leaned some plywood and old storm windows around three sides to give them a windbreak. There's gratitude for you.

Tonight's storm ought to really make them take notice...
