Hi Susan~Too cool about your new babies! I feed my ducklings (as well as all my babies~be they goslings, ducklings, keets or chicks) Flock Raiser (by Purina). They make it in either crumble or pellet and I start with the crumble and graduate to the pellet. If your birds are free ranging with others this may prove to be a bit of a problem as your whole bunch will ambush the feed...Are they separated? If so...you can feed the product to momma along with the babes with no difficulties. Jules Pizzolato -------Original Message------- From: Susan F. I now have 3 ducklings. First hatched yesterday evening and 2 sometime overnight, and at least one more egg is pipping right now. I just realized that I've simply been feeding the ducks as I feed the chickens ... a mix of layer pellets and scratch. Doesn't sound much like "duckling" fare to me ... so what do I get for them? And should I do as I do with chicks from the incubator and dip their beaks so that they'll learn how to drink? Or will mom take care of that? I know enough not to give them medicated feed but should I run and get non-medicated chick? Game bird? Mash? Any advice (asap!) will be much appreciated. Susan F. in NY | ||
