[CHICKENS-101] Re: Very loud 6:15am wake up call from female Barred Rock

There was a very informative article posted recently about Roo behavior. Maybe someone can re post it......

If your roo turns to you or hubby in ANY sort of agressive nature OR if he attempts to mate OR is aggressive to another chicken in your presence, he is trying to evaluate which one of you is the stronger Roo. It always HAS to be you. Look at him sternly and stomp and or chase him a bit if he does that. It will only take a few times. He will relinquish authority and be much safer to be around at any time. I tried it when my year old RIR was aggressive with my husband and daughter (not me though, although he would often try to breed in front of me). Gave him some GRITS (girls raised in the south) attitude ---- and his changed. And yes he still loves me and sits in my lap. But he respects us too!
