Di, doesn't Sherman try to dig out of the yard or just walk through the fence? I had a baby Sulcata once and the crows got him. He was only about three inches at the long way. I was just sick about it.
Then a few years later I got Ernie, my California desert tortie and now he is lost in the back yard. I put him out on ONE of our sunny days and he disappeared. He can't get out but he must be dug in somewhere still hibernating. That is what I want to do with this miserable summer too.
Did you put pix of your chicks somewhere?
Gina :-)
