I am going to guess that you do not have many birds if they were in a
rabbit hutch. Most rabbit hutches that I know have an enclosed box at
one end. With the lights you had in the hutch, are you really sure the
birds were cold?

What was the temp outside? What kind of chickens are they and how many
do you have?
