Re: [CHICKENS-101] Please help this idiot with heating!

Oh, my, we did that the first year.  Got chicks in mid Oct. and thought we'd raise them in the master bath.  I had 1 red herp heat lamp for them and propped a long board from the edge of the tub (resting against the shower next to the tub) up against the other end wall.  Then I draped a blanket over it.  That cut down on the noise but we were not sleeping in the adjacent bedroom.

I'd only use a red light at night.  That white light is what's keeping them awake.  Use the white light during the time you WANT

Ok, I'm just stupid thinking I could have chicks this time of the year.  I have always put them in an enclosed rabbit hutch with heat lamp.  Didn't work, too cold out, so the dern things are in my master bath, screaming their bloody heads off all night.  I have two heat lamps, one red, one clear and a portable heater on all night.  I didn't take a room temp, but I thought it was warm in there.  Please, do tell what I am to do to get them comfortable and let me sleep!  Or any great ideas for me to get them back out of my house (bleck!)

Many thanks!

Renee
