Avocados are TOXIC.  Forget the pit, the fruit itself is toxic to chickens and other birds.

So, it's the seed not the pulp. I feed them to my hens all the time and they never touch the seed. I sometimes mistake the seeds left behind for an egg! I will remove the seed from now on. Thanks!
