There will be a hatch of more mites right away. I would use frontline dog and cat spray on him, once a month for the next 6 months. Where one has it, all eventually have them. Northern mites spread easily, can kill birds, and I would not eat eggs from hens and pullets sprayed with it.

You can use Permethrin as either a direct spray (keep it out of the vent) or diluted as a dip. Works great.
