If you try hanging bars of soap, I believe people use Irish Spring.
Got some in my mailbox one time, a sample. Took 2 days to air out the mailbox. That stuff is strong.

A farmer once told me hang bars of soap from your fruit trees it deters the deer. Worth a shot I guess can't hurt
