Re: [CHICKENS-101] alfalfa & bedding pellets

The alfalfa cubes need to be broken up. Hay is better. I don't like the pine pellet bedding for chickens. I am afraid they will eat them. I like wood shavings.

I was reading recently that bales of alfalfa are excellent for the flock in the winter. I am wondering if my Ladies would be happy with the alfalfa cubes that they sell for horses. Have any of you tried them?

Also, have any of you tried using the pelletized bedding that they sell for horses, for your birds as nesting material?

Thanks!
