Re: [CHICKENS-101] Mice

Laugh at me if you want too.  I put eprinex in a squirt gun, and got the stray cat with it.  Looked like it had mange.  Now it's fur is growing in nice and creamy colored.
To back up.   My cats brought home their pet kitten that is half grown, very thin, and was mangy.  My cats are feeding it.  They give it mice and sparrows, let it eat their food, then chase it off.
Because the mangy cat was around I put my cats revolution on them.  Now I am stuck with another cat.  I need to trap it to take it in, get fixed, wormed, tested, and shots.  If it is feline leukemia tested I will have to have it put down. If no FL, it has a new home.

LOL, well my goal is going to be keeping them out of the area all together so there will be no need for them to commit mousicide!  LOL  Mine will bring me the occasional "gift" and I just scream for hubs and he comes and kicks it out of the way.
As for the ferals, I have looked into it for years and there is nothing available as far as low cost spay/neuter around here.  I don't live in the right county.  I've tried to trap her and she is too smart for that.  She was here when we bought the house and that was 8 years ago.  Yes we feed her and she gets along with our own cat.  She seems sweet but heaven forbid you try to touch her.  Funny thing though, she will let me go look at the babies as long as I keep my distance.
I would be too afraid to let the chickens roam on the acreage.  If they didn't come back, I'd never be able to find them and I want to feed my furkids, not the wildlife around here.  Anyway, thank you everyone for the advice.  I'm going to move forward and at some point I will have my chickens!
