Re: [CHICKENS-101] New to Group

Welcome;
I have had a tremendous amount of success with ordering Freedom Ranger meat chickens from www.freedomrangerhatchery.com

The chicks arrive healthy and so far I have managed not to lose even one.  These chickens are great for free ranging, which is how both my meat and egg layers are kept.  They average 4-5 lbs in less than 3 months, are calm and friendly.  There conversion ratio is excellent, and this year they are offering non gmo chicks.
All at very reasonable rates.

Good luck,
Noemi

Hi everyone!  I just joined the group and am glad to be here.  My name is Lora and I live in Missouri with my hubs and 6 furkids.  I had chickens as a kid and loved them.  My sister and I used to swing with them, climb trees with them and push them in our doll strollers.  We had them for eggs.  Now that I am a grown up, LOL, the need for chickens has come back.  I can't eat store bought eggs, they make me sick but farm fresh don't do a thing to me.  I am also interested in raising them for meat.  I home cook for my furkids and I think if I can get going, I'll have enough meat to feed them and not have to worry about what's "in it".  I will take them to get processed because butchering is something that neither my husband nor I could do.  Anyway, we are in the research process and so I am gathering all the info I can.  We have an old outbuilding that was once a chicken house (it has nest boxes in it)  But it needs a lot of work before it will be ready for chickens.  I look forward to learning from everyone!
