Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Egg Production (heat lamps)

That's ok, I hope I didn't insult anyone that tried this.  In theory it is a good idea, I mean we make sweaters for our dogs and I heard someone making a sweater for her ferret, but it is too dangerous for any animal that we are not monitoring all the time.  They do look adorable in them though don't they?
Yes the material has to be something like the material used for their diapers which is another story that I will leave alone. Someday I may need them if I am left with only one chicken and I may have to bring it in the house.

Ro, I am sorry. :(  I didn't mean to rain on your joke.  I instantly pictured toe nails caught in yarn.  Know why?  I did it.  Yup.  I hate to admit this, (cringe at my stupidity), many years ago I put yarn baby sweaters on three of my  molting hens when the weather turned cold suddenly.
Of course I came back to hen a caught up in it with a foot, who limped for a long time, making me feel pretty bad for a long time.  I also learned that hen saddles can't have any loose woven fabric, the fabric really needs to be a tight woven material similar to jean material.  It was own experiences from dumb actions that caused me to post what I did right away.

Cathryn I was sending it as a joke, I really thought this is rediculous on so many levels. When I saw it I thought they were talking about a shawl for some child's stuffed chicken. then I saw they were serious I just rolled my eyes and thought you would think it was funny.
