Diana, I wouldn't take them because new chickens have different strains of cocci and chicken germs, there is no where to put them until they all could get used to each other, adding new chickens is a stress to both sets of chickens, just doesn't seem like a good idea at the start of cold weather and in the middle of a storm.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] New hen Questions
So someone has offered me 5 hens. This woman has too many and wants to thin out her flock. I don't know what they are yet, or just how old they are. But I need to know some things before even those questions.
I have 2 6 month olds, a buff Orpington, and a black Silkie. Also, 4 2 month olds, Red Stars and EE's. They all live together and get along great. If I were to take these on, how would I do it? This time of year I have no way of seperating them to help them to socialize, get used to each other. I have one coop and run and we are already in the middle of a Nor'easter her in MA. As I write I'm realizing this probably isn't a good idea, until spring, anyway.
Any thoughts?
Diana
