Hi George, It's too cold to molt! Yikes! Hope your girls don't molt and take the time without power in stride. 40 hours is a long time without power when it is cold out. I hope it is not cold enough to freeze the pipes of people's homes that will not have power until Wed. That's a long time to be in the cold and dark.
My chicks and silkies are probably wondering where their mom is. My father had surgery today and I spent the night at my parent's last night. After dark this evening I went out to their barn to say hello to their chickens to get my bird talk fix and gather the one lonely egg in the nest box.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Back Again
Made it through the blizzard and the power outage. We were very lucky to have full power back after 40 hours, +or -, A great many folks on the east coast are still in the dark. It will take me forever to catch up on all the e-mail and group messages. I am too tired to do it right now. This camping out business is not for old people. Having done this before a couple times we were prepared but it gets harder every year. We only got about 6" of snow and the town came around to pick up all the debris. There are a lot fewer trees in New Hampshire. The chickens were in the dark for 2 nights. This could possibly trigger a molt.
I'll try to catch up in the next couple days.
