Sue, An adult turkey? Clip off the tips, approximately a 16th of an inch. Give them a week, then clip off another 16th of an inch. If the nails are very long like an inch and half, you could take off a bit more at time. Not being able to see the quick is definitely a problem.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Clipping toe nails
When clipping toe nails on poultry, I'm assuming there is a vein and quick in the nail like there is in dogs...?
I have a turkey with a couple of wonky black toe nails that could use some clipping but I can't see the quick and I don't want to hurt him or cause an injury. How much can you safely clip off without getting into trouble?
