a) older hens-3 buff orpingtons, 3 Silver Laced wynadottes, 4 RIR roosters about 8 months old, 6months-9 RIR or Cherry egger hens, 5 Barred Rock hens, 5 Buff Orpington hens, 5 EE hens, 2 EE roos, 2 RIR roos. and one yearling EE cross roo
b) egg production strictly. But they've been fun
c) W Texas, so it does get hot here
d) I read and read and read, and finally chose an asortment. Lets just say the live and learn rang true here for me, I know realize and seem to know just which ones I like better than the others from being aroudn them day to day. Some of the articles weren't right. lol I chose all of these (except for the EE's) based on what breeds were supposed to lay the best and most and biggest overall brown eggs. Got the EE roos because I decided that if I should ever decide to raise any chicks it would be neat to have some olive eggers from the cross.
