Re: [CHICKENS-101] Pecking Problem

 

Recently someone posted about this. If I'm correct, isolating the aggressive hen for a few days then re-introducing her as a new hen, can sometimes break the pecking habit. Also, using Blue-kote which is sold in the horse supply area of the feed store where I live (?) to stain the wound as Kathy mentioned helps to eliminate pecking the injured hen.

I would put some Blue Coat on her wound. Chickens are attracted to red and
will pick at wounds because of the red color. Blue Coat will stain the wound so
they won't be as interested in pecking it.
