That said, the cochins I hatch in the spring don't lay until the following spring so, there can be a few differences with regard to breeds and laying.

At any rate, rest assured that eventually, there will be eggs. Typically, the first year that hens start to lay in earnest results in enough eggs to make an omelet the size of Rhode Island.

In the meantime, I'd get those cartons in the ready position for next spring ;)
