a) 26 ea assortment from MurryMcMurry RIR's, New Hamp Reds, Buff orps, Australorps, Easter Eggers, Jersey Giants, a copper maran,leghorns, 3 cochins, the rest we still arent sure of- and 5 Guineas
b)all of the above. (personally I would only do eggs but DH wants meat)
also for the bug eating.. I cant wait for the japanese beatles next year.. the guineas are gonna ANNIHILATE THEM! (evil laugh) - so far the guineas are not good for gaurding... unless you call alerting me to every leaf that falls good guarding... (rolls eyes)

d) being novices we thought we would try a variety, eat the ones we dont like breed the ones we do like.
we read books and websites for a about a year before we started our flock...
