1 acre of land can support a couple hundred chickens (if you wanna get extreme), without any problems. more conservatively; a couple dozen hens, even a couple roosters on 1 acre could be supported, no waste problem, & unless your house is built directly next door to a neighbor; there should be no issues over noise of anykind. 1 acre could pretty well be considered a small "mini-farm."
