I get out the pressure cooker, get it ready, dispatch them, put pressure cook them, and make soup with what is there. No sense in letting their hormones rage and beat up on each other. Way kinder to take care of matters when I make up my mind to do so.

You'll have to think about what is best for you. :)

Thanks Cathryn. I've watched a bunch of them. It's the timing I'm really not sure of. I'm trying to get an idea of when is the optimum time to dispatch them.
Do you dispatch the cockerels as soon as you decide you have no use for them or do you wait until they are old enough to have some useable meat? Do you even use the meat from your culled Silkies?
The lady at the feed store looked at me as if I were nuts that I wanted to use the meat from a bantam.
I'm a city girl, no farmers in my background. The whole concept of killing something I've raised and nurtured is quite disturbing to me. On the other hand, I honestly believe that if I eat chicken, the kindest thing for me to do is raise it myself.
Maybe if I keep these cockerels around longer, they will be just so annoying I will look forward to slaughtering them. Unfortunately, they are bothering the hens, not just each other.
