I came up with the most unusual Livestock Guardian there can possibly be--my two macaw parrots!
I want to free range my Ameraucanas, but am very worried about hawks. My pit bull mutt has so far been pretty good with them, but I won't leave him with them unsupervised. His presence should deter most predators, but my worry, of course, is that he might become a predator himself.
I am letting the chickens out for brief periods of time while I'm there with them. Today I had the pit bull out with them and let out my two macaws. The macaws are superb at watching for hawks and sounding an alarm call. Inside the aviary, the macaws' vision is hampered by the overhead oak trees, but outside they are at the top of the trees on guard. I'd like to be able to let the macaws loose all day but I have another flight with a small parrot that hates the macaws and if one lands on her flight, she attacks. Sadly, the attacking bird ends up with broken and mangled toes and never, ever learns to not attack the macaws.
