Re: [CHICKENS-101] Lost a chicken

Sorry to hear about the loss of your chicken. You could get another one, but I would isolate her for a week or so, to make sure she doesn't have a disease and then introduce her carefully. You could isolate her in a cage or dog crate, and when it is time to introduce her to the other chickens, keep her in the cage/crate  for a couple of days where the other chickens can see her but not get to her. Then, put her in with the others at night and keep your eye on things until you are sure they won't do her any harm.

We lost one of our chickens today. She was alive when I got home about 2:30.
I went out again about 5 and she was dead. We got to about 103 today. She
was down in the grass next to the corner of the coop. Now we are down to 2.
Would it be safe to find another chicken about the same age, or is there too
much danger in introducing a new hen?

Thanks
