The people here are very knowledgeable most likely have given you more than I could advise. Check out the archives here on the group - a real gold mine of info. There are some good poultry magazines & others that have regular features on poultry. Mother Earth News, Countryside & Small Stock Journal, Backyard Poultry, & others here are a few links:

* Control pests & predators early by having a plan and doing things even when there seems like there are no problems.
* Shop around for equipment & supplies to find things you do and do not like.
* Ask the group which medications would be good to have on hand
* Use Apple Cider Vinegar
* Keep close watch on your flocks health. Isolate sick birds. Treat injured or sick birds promptly until you know what is OK to let go & monitor for changes in health.
* Try to think of some things that may go wrong & how you would handle them.
Get catalogs & web addresses of suppliers now, before you need them.
foyspigeonsupplies.com
Farmtek.com
There are many other suppliers. Foys has very good products, but are a bit expensive. Those are just 2 companies that we ordered from this week. Many others are out there including individuals.
Feathersite.com is very good for breed information and other stuff.
ALBC-USA.org is very good for rare or critical breeds. The Society for the Preservation of Poultry Antiques is also very good:

Have fun, get to know others in the hobby & have a wonderful day.
