[CHICKENS-101] Young and Old

 

Any of you sage experienced chicken keepers have advice for integrating the new babies with the old biddies? Side by side? Safety in numbers? The young and the quick hopefully don't be come the young and the dead? Can I house the old ladies separately in a smaller pen while I get the young ones used to the coop and how to come home at dusk?

I only have four of my old ladies left (2 light brahmas, 1 cochin and 1 wyandotte) and the the wyandotte is the only one who has shown any interest in the young'uns when they've been outside in a separate pen. The other three have completely ignored them, while she circles the pen trying to peck through the wire...needless to say I don't trust her.
