Hi Jennifer: Chickens do grow on you, specially the little ones. So you obviously have one of the bantam breeds. Silkies and Serama are separate breeds although cross breeding is possible it's unusual. If this is what you have they are either mistakes or designer chickens. In no way does this really make any difference except to "show people" and folks hung up on pedigree. I won't go in to that, "They" keep sending me death threats. A 'Frizzel" is a mistake of nature. Much prized by some. They need a little more tender care than normal chickens. Their feathers are not water proof and flying is difficult. As with either Silkies or Serama or a cross your bird should make a beautiful pet.

He's 6 weeks old today and just a complete love. We're keeping him indoors for the most part. We aren't absolutely sure that he's a boy or not. His breeder thought he might be. We are completely smitten. We had no idea that chickens were so friendly! His name is Dagbert. I was wondering if anyone on this group had Seramas and if anyone could tell me when they typically start to crow.
