Re: [CHICKENS-101] roo with swollen eye

Mycoplasma is usually the first choice for being the most common answer for your rooster's symptoms. If he has it so do his hens. You'll need to treat all and clean the coop.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] roo with swollen eye

My beautiful little Cochin roo developed a swollen eye several days ago. It is his lower eyelid & it swells out almost to a point. I have been treating him with Terramycin in the eye & Oxytetracycline in his water for 4 or 5 days now to no avail. I doubt it was an injury--he has a very protected area with his 5 little hens--& he has no other symptoms. Any ideas? I brought him in the house & have been keeping him by himself in case it was contagious.
