Could it be longer daylight hours? As soon as it is this time of year/daylight hours my silkies start molting.

My DW & I have just about decided to swap our mixed flock, BR and EE, hens for some Hubbard Golden Comets. Our girls haven't been doing very good for the past two months. I went and got the flyer from the local freed store and posted the number of the local meat buyer on the refrigerator. Now I'm not one who holds that chickens can read minds but as soon as I put that number up I got eggs. 7 eggs out of 9 hens two days in a row. Haven't seen that kind of production since last summer. I could say it's because of spring but we just got 6" of snow. I think they KNOW.
