Deb, I believe well chickens are cared for and fed. If they have adequate protein, oyster shell, nutrients, older chickens lay well. My leghorns are past 2 and lay everyday. So do my my plymouth white rocks.

I wonder what the life span of these chickens is? Do they 'burn out' and lay all their eggs in a couple of years and then become"eggless"?
