Cocci!!! Get her on a med for coccidiosis asap. Really common after adding new chickens. She needs a hospital cage or box with a light she can get under or away from. Hand feed her if you have too. I take plain yogurt mix in feed until I can make little balls with it. She will be weak so give her plenty of time to swallow. Feed her drops of med water, once, made stronger. Example: Before you mix her a quart of water, make a 1/4 cup and feed her 5-6 drops of it, then use the rest to make up her water dish. Time is not on your side.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] sick chicken
Hello. I mostly lurk on this group but now I have a question. We got a bantam hen about 6 weeks ago and added it to our small flock of large hens. She was doing fine but yesterday I noticed she was acting slow and more quiet than usual. This morning she seems more so. She wasn't eating and would just stand still and sometimes close her eyes. I took her outside her pen to a stand of clover and she pecked a little and walked around but that was it.
Upon examining her I noticed she had some poop stuck to her bottom so I took her inside and cleaned her off carefully with warm water. Then I put her in a dog crate with food and water to keep her quiet and away from the other hens.
I have heard that once a bird looks sick it's too late to do anything. My children and I love this sweet hen and hope there is something that can be done. Is it too late?
Thank you for your help.
