Larry, That is a good idea. The patches that get warm? Not sure that would work for a chick, they are much more fragile. I am going to store your solution in my files and try it if I have a chicken hurt a leg.

Let me tell you what I did with a full grown hen that seem to wrench or sprain her hock when getting out of the way of a more dominant hen. Up as close to the hock as the feathers would allow, I wrapped a Salonpas Pain Relieving Patch around her leg and left it on for the 8 hour period recommended and then took it off. She seemed a little better. I skipped a couple of days and put on another and after that she was not limping and walking normally. Don't know if this will work for a chick, but just sharing what I did.

Little chick is about half the size of her siblings (not a banty) and is always trying to do 'like the big chicks'. well apparently last night she tried to get too high on the perch and fell hard. when she stands she doesn't put weight on one leg and doesn't seem to want to sit with any weight on that side either.
I've put her in a box in the kitchen for the moment. would like a few pointers on how to help her recooperate and when the time comes how to reintroduce her to the flock.
thanks for your help
