[CHICKENS-101] OT ants killed my buckling

 

I went out this afternoon and watered all the critters. I played with the 3 bucklings. Everyone was GREAT! I go out 3 hours later and the boer buckling we were going to keep as a breeder is convulsing and almost dead. I brought him into the house and minutes later he died. Ww have had animals mainly dogs die in the same manner and never knew what did it. I went out and checked the pens and the house and first pen had nothing. the second pen had millions of these HUGE red and black ants. The nest was about 3 feet off the fence line. Many of the geese where shaking their heads and many of the goats and pigs had ants on them. I flooded the critters and the pen to wash some away. I poured gas down the colony and got some boric acid and sevin dust from caroleen to put in the hole as well. Has anyone had anything like this happen? Need to figure out a way to keep the ants away and not hurt the critters Jeannette
