I haven't had any problems with my quail and hens living together, maybe I've just been lucky but in my coop the hens pretty much ignore the bobwhites and vice versa. They have been together since they were all little snots. The coturnix are another story. I have them penned separately as both the bobwhites and the hens are aggressive toward them for some reason and will kill them.
I'd been working on the design for a new quail enclosure, but realized this past weekend that it is easier to keep the quail in place for now and to move out the hens instead. This afternoon, I picked up wood, mesh, hardware, etc. and have a neighbor who will start building a bigger outdoor enclosure with a coop and a large run for them. I'm pretty excited about it.

Quail are not OT in case anyone would like to know. :) I wouldn't put my quail with my chickens, quail are much smaller.
