Well I guess Tanya the best place to start is the ABA -- the American Bantam Association
They have a lot of articles on their site to help answer your questions and from there find your local clubs, but to be honest after reading the articles the best way to learn is go to a show walk around and learn. Meet another silkie owner and talk to them. When I showed (LF) Brahmas I did that and learnt alot -- some of it convinced me that my Brahmas were not show worthy, but I did end meeting a breeder at one show who sold me Brahmas that were and was very helpful over all.
Also helpful is this old book from the APA, it will give you information that is still valid a century later even though it does not t cover the silkie.
