[CHICKENS-101] rooster health issue

Can anyone help this lady out with her bird health problem?  She is a member of a homesteading group to which I belong.

My rooster, Abner, is listless. He is not eating or drinking that I can tell. He just sits with his eyes closed most of the time. He was given to me last year so I don't know a lot about his past or how old he is. He is sweet tempered, and has never been aggressive with me, but he has never let me handle him either, unlike my girls who were all raised my me since they were hatchlings. He really gets stressed when I try to even touch him. I don't want to make him worse but I think I need to get some Vet Rx down him (or something).
Does anyone have any suggestions on treating a semi-wild rooster without getting either him or me hurt? Last night, I tried to pick him up by wrapping him in a towel like I do the cats when I want to treat them. That was a failure! He became frantic. We tussled and he got away. Also, if I do manage to get a hold of him, is there something else I should try other than Vet Rx? I have colloidal silver and a good selection of essential oils. I could try just plain oregano oil but that is one of the components of Vet Rx.
Thanks in advance,
Vicke
