Have you ever seen the little ecards online that say things like cleaning house while the kids are home is like brushing your teeth while eating Oreos? There's another about dogs but I can't remember how it ends. Anyway, as we all know cleaning the coop is the same way.
I always move my bantams into another pen or cage while I clean their pen because otherwise it's impossible. While cleaning this weekend my dd's pet old English bantam thru a wrench in that work too. As soon as I opened the door to their pen she made a dash for the nestbox, wiggled around letting me know that she WOULD be laying an egg before she went ANYWHERE. Luckily she's an experienced girl and gets down to business quickly and had her egg layed in about 15 min. One of the buff orp pullets was sitting on a nest when I started cleaning and she was still there when I was done. Even after I fed for that matter. Silly youngster. My dd asked if she was broody. I doubt it. I think the young ones just sit and sit until they lay that egg. Lol. Kind of like little kids and potty training.
