[CHICKENS-101] Re: Why not Purina

I tried our local co-ops homemade chicken mash but it was extremely dusty and looked to made up mostly of corn. Most of it ended up on the coop floor wasted so, I switched to Purina crumbles.

I've never had a problem with Purina but not happy about the removal of animal protein from the diet. In the winter, I supplement with mealworms but only occasionally. They're expensive and I no sooner lay down the plates and they're gobbled up before the coop door closes behind me! Can't keep up with that.

I'm going to check and if Kent (which does contain animal protein) is available at the other feed store I think I'll switch. I only have two, locally owned feed stores where I am (no big box stores) so don't have much in the way of choices.
