1. Yogurt is good for months after it expires.
2. You did your best, he has a blockage inside of him. You are his chicken mom, not God.
3. The best of the best avian vet team could not save him because of his blockage, no surgery option because of his weight, nor could they give him the care you have one on one. I am speaking from experience with rescue and doctoring back to health work with an avian vet.
4.Please comfort him, put him somewhere where you can pet him, then when he is suffering put him gently to sleep.
You can put him by a favorite tree or flower when he goes to sleep.
I am so so sorry. Your heartbreak brings tears to my eyes for your heartbreak. Hugs,

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Rooster with Prolapse
I am horribly sad today, Romeo is doing a down right spiral turn. Yep he's not doing good at all.. Last thing Peter and I did was give him a stool softener to help him try and pass whatever is blocking him. Well it didn't work, the red bubbly thing is back out, only it's got some blood clots and it looks like there's scabs or something on it. So I cleaned it best I could, I will give him a bath and soak it really good this evening if it stays out. As well as do the honey and prepartation H thing again hope that I can get it to go back in and stay in.
Well now each time I pick him up, he holds his head down and boom throws up. Well technically chickens don't throw up so I guess you can say the fluids in his crop is coming out.
It's horribly thick stuff.. He was looking and acting soooo good but only to spiral down for the worst. He was doing sooo good that even his smelly poop didn't smell anymore, in fact it actually went solid on me, not semi completely solid. It was light green.
AND to top everything off, the egg and yogurt mixture that I have been giving him. THE YOGURT has been expired since Aug 9th. YEH, I didnt think to check the expiration date on it because I just bought it. So I guess you can say I'm helping him lose his battle. This is HORRIBLE. First I torture him with all this tube feeding abuse only to discover I'm feeding him expired stuff.
Why don't these stores have a computer system that will alert them when something is about to expire because they aren't doing a good job watching it.
