Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Glad To Be Back
After a year's + hiatus I've decided I missed Chickens 101 too much to stay away. (I used to be subscribed as DBauer m7998.) Thanks, Pete, for letting me rejoin!
Things have changed drastically. I've gone from being busy tutoring children through No Child Left Behind to buying the tutoring business and dropping out of No Child Left Behind. (Trust me, you don't want to work with the government in any way, shape, or form.) This leaves my client lisat a bit thin. I'm making my expenses - just - but am sure things will perk back up once school starts.
I now act5ually have chickens! Gina and Cathryn sent me some seraqmas last year, and I've expanded my little band of merry hens through purchasing hatching eggs from The Pampered Pullet and buying a breeding trio from Jerry Schexnayder of Louisiana (the original importer of the breed). I've joined the North American Serama Council, and have given away three breeding trios to 4H and FFA kids to help promote the breed.I'm looking to get some new blood this fall so that the flock doesn't become inbred.
I'll post pictures as soon as I find the time to take them and Judy shows me how to download them to the conputer.
